Raina and Yuvraj, AUSTRALIA v INDIA, cricket world cup 2011 |
Indian captain MS Dhoni said when he got out 70 odd runs were needed and he thought that if Raina and Yuvraj stayed there they would scale it down. Added that they conceded 10 runs more in the field but also told that they fielded the best today and praised Yuvraj for his batting, bowling and fielding. Said there will be pressure on India when they play against Pakistan, it's a tough job and they have to do well.
A disappointed Australian skipper Ricky Ponting said they competed hard and 260 was a reasonable total but the bowling was not up to the mark. Further said that they sniffed a chance but Raina and Yuvraj played well and finished it off. Added that it is disappointing to be bailing out now and wished India luck for the rest of the tournament.
Raina and Yuvraj, AUSTRALIA v INDIA, cricket world cup 2011 |
The target is a challenging one and the Men in Blue have to apply themselves against the fearsome trio of Lee-Tait-Johnson. India certainly have the arsenal to scale down the target but Australia will also try their level best to stop them from doing so. Should be an intriguing chase. Do join us back in a few minutes' time!
Well both the sides will be pretty satisfied with their efforts. Australia got off to a good start, courtesy Haddin and Watson, but the star of the evening was the Australian skipper Ricky Ponting with a magnificent century, stroking 104 and held the middle-order together. The innings struggled a bit with a couple of quick wickets but a 26-ball 38 cameo from David Hussey provided the much needed impetus and was instrumental in helping the score cross the 250-run mark. The Indian bowling was superb as they never allowed the opposition to score briskly by keeping the run rate in check. Zaheer Khan was at his usual best with the old ball and Yuvraj and Ashwin also contributed with a couple of wickets.
